Below is a selection of photographs of the ‘Investigating Detectives’ physical exhibition which is on display at The Word in South Shields from 20th October 2021 to March 2022.
Visitors can look around Sherlock Holmes’ Baker Street office and learn all about the character himself, then step into the Orient Express themed film space and watch Ann Cleeves, a local crime writer, talk about her famous North East detective Vera Stanhope and how the genre has developed over the years.
The exhibition also gives visitors the chance to see Dame Agatha Christie’s typewriter and an original manuscript up close as well as costumes worn by David Suchet and Jeremy Brett in their respective roles as Hercule Poirot and Sherlock Holmes.
