Known accessibility issues
Despite our best efforts users may experience some issues. This is a description of known accessibility issues. Please contact us if you observe an issue that is not listed.
There are some instances of images used for text
There may be instances of images used for text where it is unavoidable. This is mainly due to the text being part of the branding and containing effects that cannot be replicated using text. In these cases a description and alternative text has been included to aid accessibility.
Technical Information about this website’s accessibility
South Tyneside Council is committed to making this website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
- On some pages, the i tag is used to format text. This doesn’t meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.1 (info and relationships).
- There are some limitations on resizing text and zooming due to the complex nature of the design and content.
We are continuing to work through accessibility issues. We are making sure any new content or digital services we build meet accessibility standards.
